The Historic Water Tower in the Town of Fort Sheridan is getting repaired due to the recent discovery of a masonry leak. The current leak is causing interior masonry damage and damage to the cast iron spiral stair case going up the side of the tower. Keeping water out of this structure is important which is why this project is underway.
The issue is with the seals between the four limestone caps that connect with the rounded structures on all four sides of the tower. Klein and Hoffman Inc. has been hired to provide engineer services and determine the scope of the project.
The project’s primary goal is to replace the lead seals on the limestone caps with the “Weathercap Joint Protective System.” Secondary goals include any obvious tuckpointing problems which will be addressed at this time.
Normally, this is a project whose undertaking is dealt with by the Homeowners Association’s Board. Luckily they previously hired us, so we took care of everything. We deal with any issues your property has, so you don’t have to. So if you’re on your community’s Board, make your life a little easier, and contact us.
