60TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: A TRUE PARTNER IN THE BATTLE AGAINST CHILDHOOD CANCER
On Tuesday, May 2, more than 900 Chicagoans gathered at the Sheraton Grand Chicago to sample cuisine from top local restaurants, in a benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. This annual Chicago event, titled St. Jude’s Four Stars of Chicago, helps raise money to support St. Jude Children’s hospital. As member of the Executive Committee, Lieberman Management Services’ Chief Financial Officer, Kevin Adam, has been instrumental in managing both ongoing work of the center and the yearly fundraising efforts.
“While my wife and I don’t have any kids, we had a niece that had a rare disease that took her at the age of 8,” says Adam. “We understand how it feels to not only lose someone young, but to realize that there was very little we could do. My wife and I didn’t want any other parent to feel that way, so I decided to get involved with St. Jude.” Adam has been a member of the Executive Board since 2009.
St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. At the Four Stars Benefit, attendees and benefactors came together for one night to share the stories of child survivors and supporters alike. The evening culminated with an open dining where 24+ restaurants share their cuisine with the attendees. Through 2016, this event has generated over $10MM to help the children at St. Jude.
This year, the non-profit group celebrates 60 years since founder Danny Thomas established ALSAC to raise the support necessary to operate and maintain St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude’s gratefully acknowledges the community’s important role in helping this hospital to become one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers.
